My name is Damaris Sulser, and I’m a 19 years old artist based in Switzerland. I can’t remember a time period in which I didn’t draw, paint or create any other kind of art. For me, it’s always been one of my ways to express myself and interact with the world. I love to see how art can bring together people who’d have never spoken to each other if they had just met on the street.
Some of the themes you’ll find most often in my artworks are water, fleeting moments and a touch of philosophy. Currently, I’m experimenting with some more abstract elements as well as different colours than usual.
Having found my style of art is all fun until you realise it can make you a little boxed in at times. Which is why I’m currently trying to “leave my art without actually leaving it”. Meaning that I want to cross borders without being inauthentic in what I create.
When not creating, you’ll probably find me philosophising with friends, reading books or having a walk with my Jack Russell Terrier. Also, I love studying people and the absurd situations they often find themselves in. If I had one free wish, I’d like to run a philosopher’s café in Paris or Edinburgh with an integrated studio that is full of plants and has lots of windows. A yoga class would be at 10.00 a.m.
