Fashion Designer of the month (September) Hannah Louise Singleton.
I am Hannah Louise Singleton, recent BA(hons) Graduate in Silversmithing and Jewellery. I am developing a business under the name of H.L.S silversmith and Designer, sometimes referred to as HLSdesigner. As well as specialising in handcrafted precious metal jewellery, I’m also an artist and illustrator keen to teach skills to others. I have my CV of qualifications attached.
My unique jewellery and metalwork is made lovingly from Sterling silver and hallmarked with my signature mark at the London assay office. Creating professional outcomes that burst with quality. Handcrafting every aspect on my workbench in my home studio by the sea. I would describe my design style to be quirky and bold that follows a contemporary and modern style with subtle hints of antiquity, focusing my creations around a wearable art movement and fashion statement. My latest collection is inspired by the ocean and the harbour and my love for illustration – merging two creative arts into one separating outcome, crafting jewellery with an illustrative and abstract detail when worn and that blend together when whole.
Inspired by the Cornish coast- living amongst several beaches and surrounded by the clear ocean. Studying the natural environment I have always been fascinated by marine life, visiting aquariums around Cornwall and the harbour beside my home. I came up with this beautiful fish illustration merging the sea bass, goldfish and rainbow fish into one to create my own style. Prints are available for this illustration and become the ideal statement for the home and a breathtaking way to hang your jewellery collection.
The BOLD collection.
Inspired by my love of illustration and the Cornish coast. The collection features focal points of a hand-drawn monochrome fish Illustration encased inside a layer of high-quality resin. Becoming the dominant role and final accent by following and capturing the contours of the human body. Sold alongside its very own illustration print to hang the jewellery both becoming one artistic movement. Together they capture detailing of a sea-creature – apart depicting an abstract form. I have subtly included my keen interest of kinetic jewellery within one of my rings and designed the structures to follow an Aztec Greek theme. An animalistic and wild character.
Handcrafted from sheet sterling silver built layer by layer in my workshop, Hallmarked with London Assay office and finished with ultimate care and attention. This collection creates an abstract pattern and detailing which allows for question and wonder – paired together they hang blended with the expressionist illustration to create a whole belonging within one piece of wall art, this allows for a few small pieces of jewellery to an A4 illustration or even the whole collection for an A2 size.
