My name is Jasmine Anne Hazi, I’m a 21 years old aspiring actress and model living in Johannesburg South Africa. I am also currently in my 3rd year of studying Performance Arts at Wits University. I have a bit of that cliché story of wanting to become an actress since I was about five years old. I was always in front of the camera performing, even if it was in my own bedroom. I loved it. When I was about 16, I started to try to break out into the modeling world, but I kept being told that I was “too short.”
I remember one day my housekeeper, and my mom even tried to stretch me. I held onto a pillar in my house, and they both grabbed a leg and pulled. It was a complete failure, and I think we were all feeling very desperate. Obviously, it didn’t work, but it’s a memory I always look back at and laugh.
I continued fighting because I knew what I wanted and I knew I could do it, I just needed someone to finally see me. Eventually, at the age of 21, I was signed to one of the top agencies in South Africa called Boss Models. I remember crying tears of joy after signing my contract with them because I felt like this was finally my chance to show people who I am. Since then I have worked and still am working with fantastic photographers, adding onto my portfolio and gaining as much experience as I can.
Aside from my work, I like spending my time at the park with my two dogs, Bijou and Mooshoo. I enjoy dinner dates with my close friends where I’m able to let loose and laugh till my stomach hurts. I also love my yoga and try to practice it at least three times a week. Let’s not forget I’m a series addict and watch ‘American Horror Story’ religiously, that and also reruns of the old show ‘Charmed’ those sisters basically got me through my childhood.
