Photographer of the Month (June) Yoeri Stor.
After spending two years as a ski instructor in Austria, I was ready for a new challenge. At that time I used to frequently visit dance events and afterwards always loved to see the video reports that were made by some organisations. While watching them it hit me, I wanted to do something like that but even better than what I saw.
I started approaching organisations armed with an HD camcorder that my mother gave me as a present and before I knew it DJZONE.TV had been manifested. Not because I had the skills, not because I had the techniques or specific education but because I had the one thing that every entrepreneur needs: passion. Passion for images, for filming and producing a product that exceeds everyone’s expectation.
I spent countless hours researching equipment, studying the editing programs and submerged myself in an audiovisual soup and after that soup was cooked, I came out the professional that I am today. The beauty is I never lost my zest or love for this type of work or creative processes in general. I continue to grow every day, and with every production, I push myself to a higher level, and I don’t stop till I am 100% satisfied even if the client already is.
I think looking back the biggest break in my early career was the productions I did for the infamous Awakenings Events. There I made hundreds of live movies and aftermovies from great techno legends like Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Sven Väth, Marco Carola, Speedy J, Chris Liebing, Adam Beyer, Maceo Plex, Joris Voorn and so on. I did that for several years and meanwhile starting producing aftermovies almost every weekend. Further down the line, my career went international. I began working for many different event producers from more local Belgium and German event producers till Ibiza and the Philippines. After more than 45 million views combined I was feeling on top of the world, but in the end, I felt like I needed a bigger challenge and a change of scenery.
Dispatch Center 112 (911 short action movie) (Sony FS7)
Kroonenberg Groep (Real Estate impression film) (RED Dragon)
NanoFixit (ninja commercial) (Arri Alexa)
So in 2015, I started a new production company: Enterprise Media, operating from Amsterdam’s city centre felt like bliss. I aimed at making commercials, presentations videos and short action movies for businesses and organisations in Holland, the EU and the United States.
Everything was rolling well, yet I felt a calling to something way deeper. Something more mysterious and spiritual in nature. I guess you could say I started a journey to my soul. A lot has happened since. It’s been a fascinating process, to say the least, which has to lead me to desire a new direction to use my skills.
Along with my regular work, I feel a strong urge to make documentaries about mother nature, consciousness and ancient civilisations and their customs. I believe everyone comes into this world with a mission and some unique qualities. Right now I feel I have found my mission and want to use my talents and skills to produce meaningful content that will add something to the world and will positively influence the lives of other people, animals or that of the planet. It would be an honour to be able to contribute to stimulating more consciousness about our great mother earth and how we can go about protecting this beautiful planet we live on.
I have experienced more than 40 Ayahuasca sessions and am willing to stay several months in Peru to collect the content needed to produce the best Ayahuasca documentary ever.
Right now I can assure you; you will not find anyone more involved, more passionate, more engaged with these topics. All I need is a chance…..just like all those years ago when I saw the first event movie. It’s the same feeling of being pulled into a direction but now with the mental clarity of being on the path of my destiny.
